While having a traditional Indonesian lunch overlooking the active volcano, you will observe a spectacular view of Mount Batur from Kintamani village. Then, you will head to Batuan, visiting 2 sacred temples on the western part of the village, known as Pura Puseh and Pura Dasar. During your visit to the temples, you would be asked to wear vermilion sarongs that would be given out. Observing the temples’ classical Balinese architecture style with elaborate carvings, you will learn from your guide about their symbolism and architectural features. You will also learn that Batuan village is renowned for its local art and culture, particularly for the Batuan painting that originated in the village in the 1930s and then became a major Balinese artistic style. You will find out about Balinese arts and crafts at the village and attempt traditional wood carving, since Batuan is famous for its carved teak wood furniture and wonderful woodworkers.

After a visit to a scenic rice terrace, your guide will take you to Ubud Monkey Forest, the sanctuary and natural habitat of Balinese long-tailed macaques. Around 1049 monkeys livein 12.5 hectares of forestthat features 186 different kinds of plants and trees. While you will be stunned with the remarkable natural surroundings, you will discover that the sanctuary has 3 Hindu temples on its territory, Dalem Agung Padangtegal Temple, Holy Spring Temple and Prajapati Temple, that were built around 1350.From there, you will move on to the Ubud Palace, a historical building complex that used to be the official residence of the royal family of Ubud, and end the tour with a visit to a kopi luwak (or civet coffee) farm. You will try one of the most expensive coffees in the world and learn about the process of its production.
