Belek sits on a narrow strip between the sea and a pine forest that was planted here on purpose — it holds the sand and gives shade where there would otherwise be none. The beaches of Belek are among the nesting grounds of the loggerhead turtle: females come ashore at night from May to August, sections with clutches are fenced off, and night lighting is kept dim.
Active trips head into the Taurus foothills, less than an hour from the shore. Quad safaris follow dirt tracks and river fords, no licence needed, usually two hours; buggy tours work the same way but the vehicle is enclosed and built for two. Both formats are dirty by definition, and the operators do not hide it: wear something you will not mind ruining.
A separate line is water. Boat trips through the Green Canyon on the Oymapınar reservoir take a full day, include lunch on board and two or three swimming stops; the reservoir water stays cold even in July because the basin is deep. Practical note: quads usually require eighteen to drive and seven to ride as a passenger, but operators differ on the rules, so confirm at booking.
