6-day Tour "Acquaintance with Baikal"
During the 6 days of the tour, you will see the breathtaking sites of Siberia, marveling at the beauty of the region with its old villages and picturesque landscapes. Lake Baikal, a rift lake in southern Siberia, is well-known around the world for its scale and bewitching natural surroundings, and you shouldn't miss the opportunity to visit it and admire the things it's most loved and famous for. The tour will introduce you to all of those places, while your guide will tell you more about the history of the local villages and important sights.
Day 1. Historical part of Irkutsk and Listvyanka - Baikal gates. After arriving in Irkutsk, you will go on a tour around the city, getting familiar with its historical part and Russian churches. Then, you will depart to the village Listvyanka. It is also called Baikal gates, and there you will be able to relax on the coast of Baikal, do some shopping in the local market and get a great view from the observation deck.
Day 2. Arriving in Olkhon. On the way to Olkhon, the largest island of Baikal, you will see incredible mountain ranges in the Tazheran steppes, Buryat villages, fields and picturesque valleys. This land is considered to be sacred, and, since the island is separated from the continent by the Small Sea Strait, you will get there by ferry.
Day 3. Northern part of Olkhon. On this day, you will tour around amazing places with bays and sandy beaches, as well as admire the views of Lake Baikal from high mountains. From the cape Khoboy, you will see the widest part of Lake Baikal with the coast-to-coast distance of 79 kilometers. On the way to Khoboy, you will visit the most picturesque sites of Olkhon that are also natural monuments of Baikal.
Day 4. Valley of Stone Spirits. You will visit Tazheran steppes and the Valley of Stone Spirits, hearing incredible legends of this area. Also, you will admire salty lakes and the sacred mountain Ehe-Yord where all of the national festivals take place.
Day 5. Tunkinskaya valley. You will go to the village Arshan that is very different from Olkhon. The settlement is known for its hot springs and the Sayan Mountains that are also called the Siberian Alps. In the middle of the day, you will have lunch in the cafe that is located deep in the forest. From that spot, you will be able to admire the panoramic view of the river valley.
Day 6. Arshan. You will see the picturesque waterfalls of Arshan. On your way, you will make stops to take some pictures, drink from a healing spring and take a look at white-snow cliffs. Also, you will visit the local Buddhist temple and learn more about this religion. At the end of the tour, you will return to Irkutsk.
