Minor Venice Walking Tour with Gondola Ride

2 hours
English, Italian

On this walking tour, you will discover the greatest treasures of Sestieri of Venice, also known as Minor Venice, and ride a traditional Venetian gondola. Starting the tour on a dreamy note, you will drift along the Grand Canal and some of Venice’s minor canals in a gondola, observing the surroundings. Afterwards, you will visit the well-known Fenice Theater, which was completely destroyed in 1996 by a fire. You will be able to see the completely reconstructed building from the outside, then heading to the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo, a Gothic construction in Calle Della Vida. The building features many arcades and a parapet with small columns that follow the line of the stairs. Due to its wonderful exterior, the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo is considered one of the architectural jewels of Venice. The structure is hidden inside a small courtyard close to Campo Manin. You will see how it reflects the typical Venetian character of the period when it was built, combining elements of the Renaissance with the techniques of the Gothic-Byzantine period. The guide will then take you to the Rialto Bridge, a walkway across the Grand Canal that was constructed from stone by Antonio da Ponte between 1588 and 1591. There you will see the structure that is formed by 2 inclined ramps, flanked by shops on each side and covered by a portico.

Highlights: a traditional Venetian gondola ride, the Grand Canal, the Fenice theater, Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo, the Rialto Bridge.

Departure: Sun, Wed, Sat. Includes: a guide, a gondola ride. 1-6 people.
