On this tour, you will visit some of the most iconic monuments of Rome and Vatican City. You will check in at the Vatican and collect your 2-in-1 tickets along with the information on how to get to the Colosseum. Then, you will begin the guided tour around the Vatican City that will include special access to St. Peter's Basilica. After you meet your guide, you will enter the Vatican Museums with a priority admission ticket and collect your headsets to hear your guide well. From there, you will begin your journey, walking around the smallest country in the world. The guide will take you to the various Vatican Museums, including the famous Museum Pio Clementino and the Octagonal Court that features the statue of Laocoön and His Sons. You will see the masterpieces from the Papal collections in the vast galleries like the Hall of Maps, the Gallery of Tapestries and the Gallery of Candelabra. Afterwards, you will enter the Sistine Chapel and view the wonderful ceiling that was painted by Michelangelo. The guide will take you to St. Peter's Basilica with a VIP priority entrance. Once inside, you will have time to walk around, and then you will climb to the highest point of St. Peter's Dome. Surely, you will not miss the Papal Crypts that lay underneath the Basilica and Bernini's Baldacchino.
After your Vatican tour, you will have the time to reach the Colosseum area, have a break and then begin your self-guided tour. Your Colosseum skip-the-line ticket will have a set entrance time and you will show it at the Colosseum main gate, avoiding the long lines to get inside. At your own pace, you will see what was known during the Roman Empire as the Flavian Amphitheater, as well as the 1st and 2nd tiers. From the 2nd tier, you will be able to admire the huge arena where bloodthirsty battles between gladiators and wild animals took place during the Roman Republic. The next stop will be the Roman Forum, an archaeological site of many important government buildings and the heart of the Ancient Roman Empire. From there, you will move on to Palatine Hill, one of the 7 hills of Rome. The area is mostly filled with the houses of the rich, including the very famous Domus Augustana.
