Subiaco Village Walking Tour
Discover one of the best villages in Italy — Subiaco! Immerse yourself in the medieval architecture of its monasteries and the rich history of its historical center. Let yourself be carried away by the stories about the Borgia family and the breathtaking Italian scenery!
Subiaco is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It is an international tourist and religious center as it has many relics — such as 9th-century frescoes in the sacred Grotta dei Pastori ("Grotto of the Shepherds"), medieval St. Benedict's Abbey, and the Abbey of Santa Scolastica. With our guide, we will discover all those treasuries and relish the fantastic Italian nature. Subiaco is a small village not that far from Rome, but it has a distinctive center — crossed by narrow streets and dotted with the typical tiled roofs. On our way to Saint Scolastica, we will witness ancient Roman bridges and enjoy the village's beautiful landscape perched on a hill.
In the last part of our tour, we will move to the Monastery of Saint Benedetto. It leans on the rocky wall of Mount Taleo and was built in a place where Saint Benedict lived for three years as a hermit at the beginning of the sixth century. Its situation and structure make it a true gem and an essential place to see for those visiting Subiaco.
