Olympic Mountain of Montjuïc Walking Tour
Break away from the bustling city and relax on the Olympic Mount Montjuïc, Barcelona's green lung! We'll start at the 1929 World's Fair grounds next to the iconic Plaza de España. As you climb the hill, you'll learn about this important event in the city's history. Standing in front of the palace, which houses the Catalan Museum of Contemporary Art, you can take great photos with stunning views. From there we will cross the Olympic Ring and see the Olympic Stadium where the 1992 Games were held. Before climbing to the top of the hill, we'll talk about the lasting impact of the Games on the city. We will also peek into the famous Barcelona cemetery as we pass the Botanical Gardens. After climbing to the top, we can take a break in a hidden beer garden under the pines - if the weather permits. The walk will continue on a non-tourist path around the castle of Montjuïc to a breathtaking observation deck. Here you can also understand why the mountain has always been a natural watchtower and helped protect the city. Walking along the slopes of the hill, we arrive in the multicultural quarter of Poble Sec. Its chaotic layout gives this neighborhood a unique, chic atmosphere today. We will end our stroll on the famous Calle Blai at one of the local Pinchos bars, where popular snacks are served.
