Algarve: endless beach, the best golf courses and +14 °C even in winter.
The Algarve is a region in the south of Portugal. The largest and most touristic cities in the region are Faro, Lagos, Albufeira, Portimão, Tavira and Vilamoura.

Algarve resorts are one of the most popular among Europeans and tourists from other countries. Bonnie Tyler, Cristiano Ronaldo and Madonna love to relax here, and Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem celebrated 10 years since their wedding in the Algarve.

Wealthy people also buy real estate in the region in order to obtain a residence permit in Portugal and be able to come to the Algarve at any time.

The Algarve is the southernmost Portuguese region, whose history begins during the Stone Age. This is evidenced by the finds of ancient ruins in the cities of Vila do Bispo, Lagos and Alcotin.

The modern resorts of the Algarve used to be fishing villages, and now they are the best places for a beach holiday in all of Europe. Small towns in the region have retained their provincial beauty: narrow streets, whitewashed houses and ancient churches.

On national and religious holidays, the Portuguese arrange carnivals, fairs and fireworks. Some national holidays, such as Freedom Day on April 25, or Labor Day on May 1, become public holidays.
The local sardine festival takes place in August and is famous throughout Portugal. Even foreigners come to try the fish. Sardines are served with farmer's bread and a "mountain salad" of finely chopped tomatoes, green peppers and onions, sprinkled with oregano and seasoned with oil and vinegar.
The Algarve is the best place to play golf in Portugal. Every year golf clubs and courses in the region receive the most prestigious award in the industry - the World Golf Awards. In 2021, the best golf course in Portugal was Quinta do Lago South, a gated community and golf resort on the Algarve coast.
