Descripción completa

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is often called Iceland in miniature: a glacier-capped volcano, craters, sea arches, black beaches and one of the most photographed mountains in the country. This private tour pairs a full day on the peninsula with a soak at Hvammsvík Hot Springs on the way home.

Your group gets a dedicated driver-guide and a vehicle that belongs entirely to you for the day. No fixed pace, no waiting for other passengers, no compromises.

On the southern shore, Ytri Tunga is one of the few places in Iceland where you can often see harbour seals resting on the rocks. In Snæfellsjökull National Park you step into the narrow Rauðfeldsgjá gorge, see the Gatklettur sea arch at Arnarstapi and walk down to Djúpalónssandur, where black pebbles, the remains of a shipwreck and the old fishermen's lifting stones fill a sheltered cove. After the Hólahólar crater row and the staircase up Saxhóll Crater, you reach Kirkjufell, the arrowhead mountain above the fjord.

On the drive back, the day ends at Hvammsvík Hot Springs in Hvalfjörður: natural geothermal pools set right at the shoreline, where you can warm up and relax before the short drive home.

Throughout the day your driver-guide shares stories, sagas and practical tips about Iceland's nature, history and culture.

Full details of each stop are in the itinerary. Pick-up and drop-off anywhere in the Capital Area, including the cruise terminals, is included. The order of stops may be adjusted on the day due to weather or road conditions.

Choose a Private Sedan for 1-3 guests or a Private Van for up to 8 guests. One price per vehicle, not per person.

Itinerario

Pick-up in the Capital Area. Your driver-guide picks you up at your accommodation anywhere in the Capital Area, or at your cruise terminal, and you head north along the coast towards the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

Ytri Tunga Beach. Your first stop is the famous golden-sand beach of Ytri Tunga, known for its resident seal colony. Unlike Iceland’s typical black beaches, this shoreline offers a unique landscape. Enjoy watching seals resting on the rocks and take beautiful coastal photos.

Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge. Visit the hidden gorge of Rauðfeldsgjá, a dramatic canyon tucked into the mountainside. Walk toward the narrow entrance and explore this mystical natural formation. This stop offers a short adventure and stunning photo opportunities.

Gatklettur Rock (Arnarstapi). Explore the charming coastal village of Arnarstapi and admire Gatklettur, a striking natural stone arch formed by ocean erosion. Walk along the cliffs and enjoy spectacular views of the rugged coastline and crashing waves.

Djúpalónssandur Black Sand Beach. Discover this dramatic black pebble beach surrounded by lava formations. See the remains of a historic shipwreck and try lifting the traditional “lifting stones” once used to test fishermen’s strength. The scenery here is raw and powerful.

Hólahólar. A striking row of volcanic craters stretching across the Snæfellsnes landscape, Hólahólar is a vivid reminder of the volcanic forces that shaped this peninsula.

Saxhóll Crater. Climb the steps to the top of Saxhóll, a volcanic crater offering panoramic views of lava fields, glaciers, and coastline. This short hike rewards you with stunning 360-degree scenery.

Kirkjufell Mountain. Visit the iconic Kirkjufell, one of Iceland’s most photographed mountains. Admire its distinctive shape and the nearby Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall. This is a must-stop location for incredible photos.

Hvammsvík Hot Springs. On the drive back through Hvalfjörður, unwind at Hvammsvík Hot Springs: natural geothermal pools set right at the shoreline, surrounded by peaceful Icelandic nature. It is the perfect way to warm up and recharge after a full day on the peninsula.

Drop-off in the Capital Area. Relax on the drive back. We drop you off where we picked you up, anywhere in the Capital Area or at your cruise terminal.
