10:30-11:30 < world heritage > Yahata Imperial Steel Works Former Head Office Viewing Space, 5 Higashida, Yahatahigashi Ward, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka. Special area for viewing Imperial Steel Works, Japan First Head Office. The Imperial Steel Works, Japan was registered as a World Heritage site in 2015. Although the inside of the facility is not open to the public, you can observe the exterior from a special viewing area. An explanation with a guide and VR are available.

13:30-14:15 < Industrial Heritage > Onga River Pumping Station, 1-3-1 Dotenouchi, Nakama, Fukuoka. This is one of the Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution selected for the inscription of 2015 UNESCO World Heritage List. Located about 10 kilometers from the mouth of the Onga River, this water pumping station is still in operation, actively supplying water to the Yawata Steel Works. It was constructed in 1910 to fulfill water insufficiency for the first expansion of the Yawata Steel Works undergoing at that time. Although the post has shifted its main source of power from steam to electric, it is still fully engaged in supplying the much needed water supply to their nearby steel maker. * Entry is prohibited since it operates as a part of the Yawata Steel Works. 15:00-16:15 < Industrial history > Tagawa City Coal and History Museum, 2734-1 Ita, Tagawa, Fukuoka. *close:-17:00. *entrance fee ￥400/adult. This museum is located inside Coal Memorial Park. In the First Exhibition Hall of the Tagawa City Coal and History Museum, visitors can learn how coal is made and mined, what coal mines and the lives of coal miners are like, and get an easy-to-understand history of coal mining. The Second Exhibition Room displays paintings and essays born of coal miners’ life stories. The Third Exhibition Room displays historical materials dating from ancient to modern times that relate to “The History and People of the Tagawa Region”. Visitors will also find the smoke stacks and the Ita Mining Derrick of the Former Mitsui Tagawa Mine preserved in their original states at Tagawa Coal-Mining Memorial Park.
