Alesund Art Nouveau City Walk

Ålesund is the largest town on the northwest coast of Norway. Still, the town center is relatively small and easy to cover by foot. The downtown was built on 2 islands close to the ocean with the backdrop of impressive mountain peaks. In the past, it was primarily made from wood, and the whole town was destroyed by fire in 1904, being rebuilt shortly in stone, brick and mortar. As the reconstruction took place between 1904 and 1907, its architecture reflected the characteristics of that period and was done in Jugendstil or Art Nouveau.
