Alesund - Viking's Islands. Private tour
This 4-hour tour will take you around the town center of Ålesund, allowing you to explore the famous Art Nouveau architecture, and to the outer islands. Featuring many interesting ancient monuments from the Vikings and the Middle Ages, the islands of the Giske archipelago are linked to Ålesund by a series of bridges and tunnels. As you will set on the private tour, accompanied by a local guide, you will discover the unique routes far away from crowds and queues.
You will commence the journey at the top of the Town Mountain and Aksla viewpoint, taking in the fantastic view of gorgeous Ålesund with its unusual architectural style. As you will listen to your guide, you will learn a lot about the history of this place and hear some fascinating stories. You will get to Giske, your next destination, by passing through several subsea tunnels. This Viking’s island is the birthplace of the famous Viking Rollo, an ancestor of the Royal British Family. You will set off to the next island, Godøy, and visit the old fishing village Alnes and its legendary lighthouse. As you proceed to Vigra and explore the farthest island of the Giske archipelago, you will be presented with the great heritage of Vikings. After the tour, the guide will drop you off at the meeting point in Ålesund or any other place within the town center.
