When people hear the name "Lake Garda," the first thing that often comes to their minds is the towns located in the lake's southern half. Never mind putting the quaint neighborhoods of Sirmione, Desenzano, and Peschiera to the test. On the other hand, the northern portion of the lake should not be neglected in any way.
The area around Lake Garda in Trentino, Italy, is the northernmost place in Europe where olive trees can be grown and cared for. This is due to the region's sub-Mediterranean climate, which is very mild. The area around the lake is a great place to grow grapes because it has many different types of soil, the weather is mild, and some of the air currents in the area help the growth. On this trip, you will discover a typical family-run factory where wine and olive oil have been made for centuries.
Before you go on the tour of the oil mill and wine cellar, the farmer's family will meet you and tell you about what makes the area special as you walk through the olive groves and vineyards. They will go into great depth on how it is feasible to produce olive trees and grapes in the most northern part of Europe and explain how this is accomplished. Following that, you will be taken through a series of guided wine and olive oil tastings, during which all your questions will be fully explained!
