The straight hunt opens with a ticket number in the World City Trail app and lets GPS do the steering, an optional voice reading every clue aloud — about two hours. The King's Landing walk instead arrives by email after booking, a Questo-app link that unfolds roughly two and a half hours of puzzles across real filming locations, equally good as fan pilgrimage or first look at the walls. Longest is the 1566 quest, also through Questo: fourteen chapters and about 1.7 kilometres entirely inside the walls, playable the instant you open the app, no slot to book and no one to wait for.

Practical. Shade is in short supply and the old stone holds the day's heat, so a walk timed for July or August, when the mercury sits at 28-32C, goes much easier before mid-morning or once the cruise-ship crowds clear out toward evening. Late spring and early autumn are the gentler months for all three. Steps break up most side lanes off the level Stradun, tough going with a pram or a wheelchair, and closed, flat shoes outperform sandals on limestone that turns slippery the moment it rains. Weather stops none of the three, so a cancelled walk here is rare.
