Itinerary

Departure from Bariloche. We begin our journey by heading east along National Route 40, driving alongside the eastern edge of Lake Nahuel Huapi. As we enjoy the scenic views, we reach the Limay River, a natural border between the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén.
Villa La Angostura. Our first stop is the charming town of Villa La Angostura, where we make a 30-minute technical stop. It’s a perfect moment to rest, grab a coffee, and take in the alpine-style architecture and natural beauty of this small Patagonian village.
Lake Espejo. We begin the Seven Lakes Route by entering areas of Nahuel Huapi National Park. Our next stop is Lake Espejo, named for its glass-like surface that reflects the surrounding forested mountains. A peaceful and scenic location for photos.
Lake Correntoso. A short drive takes us to Lake Correntoso, famous for the Correntoso River—one of the shortest rivers in the world, connecting it with Lake Nahuel Huapi. The lake is surrounded by forest and known for its crystal-clear waters.
Lake Escondido. Tucked away among the trees, Lake Escondido (“Hidden Lake”) offers a tranquil and secluded setting. It's a small but picturesque lake that often surprises visitors with its serene beauty.
Lake Villarino & Lake Falkner. These two lakes lie side by side, divided by a narrow land strip. We pause here to take in the stunning views of the surrounding forest and mountains. Lake Falkner is especially impressive with its wide, open waters and calm atmosphere.
Lake Machónico. Continuing along the scenic road, we reach Lake Machónico, known for its deep blue waters and panoramic viewpoints. This is a favorite spot for landscape photography.
San Martín de los Andes – Lake Lácar. Our final stop is the beautiful town of San Martín de los Andes, located on the shores of Lake Lácar, within Lanín National Park. Here we spend approximately two hours, allowing time for lunch, a walk along the lakeside promenade, or exploring the local shops and town center.
Return to Bariloche. In the afternoon, we return to Bariloche along the same route. As we drive back, we enjoy the changing light and the sunset views over the Seven Lakes Route, a perfect ending to this unforgettable Patagonian experience.
