Your adventure begins just steps from the cruise port as you board an air-conditioned vehicle and head inland on a scenic 1-hour drive. Along the way, you’ll pass through the charming village of Pedro Santos, known for its sweet pineapple plantations. Upon arrival at Chacchoben, you’ll step into the heart of the ancient Mayan world—walk beneath towering ceiba trees, explore well-preserved temples, and learn fascinating insights from your expert guide as the jungle reveals its secrets.

After exploring the wonders of the Mayan world, we return to Mahahual for an unforgettable snorkeling experience in the world’s second-largest barrier reef—the Mesoamerican Reef. Gear up and follow your guide into the crystal-clear Caribbean waters, where colorful coral formations and tropical marine life await. Whether you're a first-timer or an experienced snorkeler, this vibrant underwater ecosystem offers an up-close encounter with the beauty of Costa Maya’s natural treasures.

Look for your guide just outside the main Costa Maya Port entrance, holding a banner with your name. Please note that the total walking time from your cruise ship to the meeting point is about 15 minutes. Cruise Ship Information: Cruise ship guests must provide the full name of their cruise ship when booking. This information is required to coordinate your tour with the ship’s arrival and departure schedule. No Port, No Pay: If your cruise ship does not call at Costa Maya Port, you will receive a full refund. Meeting Point: Please note that the total walking time from your cruise ship to the meeting point is approximately 15 minutes. Weather & Water Activities: This tour operates rain or shine. Please check the forecast and dress appropriately for the day’s weather. Snorkeling and other water activities may be modified or restricted due to wind, lightning, or other unsafe weather conditions. Wildlife & Marine Life: Chacchoben and the reef are natural environments. Sightings of spider monkeys, tropical birds, fish and other wildlife or marine life cannot be guaranteed. Alcohol: Alcoholic beverages are served only to guests 18 years of age or older. Please drink responsibly and in moderation throughout the tour. What to Bring: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a swimsuit, personal towel, change of clothes, hat and sunscreen. We also recommend bringing some cash for souvenirs and personal purchases. Cameras & Tripods: A fee of approximately $5 USD applies to dedicated video cameras and is paid directly at Chacchoben. Tripods are not permitted inside the archaeological site. Late Arrivals / No-Shows: Guests who arrive late or fail to show up for their scheduled activity are not eligible for a refund. Chacchoben is an outdoor archaeological site. Guests should be comfortable walking along jungle trails with occasional rocks, roots and uneven terrain.
