You stay with your team for the whole quest. The route never separates players, and no mission sends you anywhere on your own. Evening departures are only offered where every stop on the route is lit and open at that hour. You can switch your booking to a private group at any time before departure, so only the people you booked with can join. Every mission can be skipped, with no penalty and no explanation needed.
