Soak up Florence‘s must-see sights on this complete half-day tour of the Medieval city. The tour begins with your expert local guide leading you to the Bargello, a former barrack and prison now an art museum, housing mainly sculptures by great artists of the Renaissance period. In the same district, you can also admire some very ancient Tower Houses, dating back to the time of the struggles between Guelfs and Ghibellines. Other highlights of the tour are Signoria Square dominated by the massive Palazzo Vecchio and the beautiful Loggia dei Lanzi. We then reach Palazzo Davanzati, a typical residence of a rich family still preserving its original Medieval atmosphere.
Bargello Museum. The Bargello Museum, housed in Florence's historic Palazzo del Bargello, is one of Italy's most significant museums dedicated to Renaissance sculpture. Established in 1865, it boasts an exceptional collection featuring masterpieces by Donatello, Michelangelo, and Cellini, among others. The museum's setting, a former 13th-century palace and prison, adds to its unique atmosphere, offering visitors a profound insight into Florence's artistic and civic history.
Davanzati Palace. Palazzo Davanzati is a beautifully preserved 14th-century Florentine townhouse that offers a rare glimpse into daily life during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Now a museum, it showcases original frescoes, period furnishings, and historic textiles. A visit to Palazzo Davanzati is like stepping back in time into the home of a noble Florentine family.
Dante House Museum. The Museo Casa di Dante in Florence is a museum dedicated to the life and works of Dante Alighieri, the renowned Italian poet. Located in the historic center of Florence, the museum is situated in the area traditionally considered to be the birthplace of Dante. The museum offers visitors an immersive experience into Dante's world, featuring exhibits on his literary masterpieces, including the Divine Comedy, as well as his political activities and the historical context of medieval Florence. Through multimedia installations, historical artifacts, and reconstructed settings, the museum provides a comprehensive insight into the life of the "Sommo Poeta" and his enduring impact on Italian culture and literature.
