Your experience

The Puebla - Cholula tram takes you to this Magical Town on a panoramic tour that starts from the Zócalo of Ciudad de Puebla through Avenida Juárez, where you can find some of the best restaurants serving Poblana and international cuisine in the city. We left Puebla to head to Cholula. Its foundation dates back to 500 BC. It was precisely the Toltecs who formed the largest ceremonial center of Anahuac here, turning Cholula into the “Sacred City” and home to the pyramid with the largest base in the world. Aboard our double-decker tram or bus “Tram Cholula” you will be accompanied by our audio guide who will narrate the history and legends of this sacred city. We pass through the Zócalo of San Pedro Pedro Cholula, and the Great Pyramid (at the end of the tour you will have free time to visit it on your own) and continuing to San Andrés Cholula to the Temple of San Francisco Acatepec, a religious monument characteristic of Mexican baroque architecture, especially recognized for its mosaic façade of the Talavera de Puebla. We continue on to visit an architectural jewel in Mexico: the Temple of Santa María Tonanzintla decorated inside the temple corresponds to the indigenous baroque or New Hispanic baroque style, consisting of an exuberant decoration with indigenous motifs, such as angels with plumes of feathers, garlands of flowers, garments of eagle knights and indigenous features, fruits and plants. All of this shows a mixture between the pre-Hispanic world and the Christian world. We boarded the “Cholula Tram” again to continue our panoramic tour passing through several temples in the “Barrios de Cholula” to finish in the San Pedro Cholula square. Here you will have free time to visit on your own the Former Convent of San Gabriel and the Royal Chapel, the Great Pyramid of Cholula and enjoy the local cuisine.

Zócalo San Pedro Cholula - Museum of the House of the Eagle Knight. Our first stop will be the Zócalo de San Pedro Cholula where you can admire from the tram the Convent of San Gabriel, San Pedro Parish, Eagle Knight Museum, Plaza de la Concorida, Royal Chapel. A few steps away, we recommend you visit the “Cosme del Razo” market where you can taste the local cuisine and see the food they sell. At the end of the tram part of the tour, you'll have time to visit these spots at your own pace.

San Francisco Acatepec Temple. At this point we will get off the Cholula Tram to visit this beautiful temple with its Talavera Poblana façade. Its interior is an example of Mexican Baroque, covered with gold sheets. You're going to love it. We recommend that you give a voluntary donation to the temple's Butler, who is responsible for keeping it in excellent condition.

Temple of Santa María Tonanzintla. Its construction began in the 16th century. By the end of the 17th century, it already had a transept, dome, sacristy and main altar, and it was precisely around that time that decorative work began with stucco. The architecture displayed inside the church of Tonantzintla, considered to be one of the most unique temples in the Christian world, allowed the fortunate combination of two worldviews: the Judeo-Christian and the Mesoamerican. The peculiarity of this temple, which makes it unique, is that the decoration inside the temple corresponds to the indigenous baroque style consisting of an exuberant decoration with indigenous motifs, such as angels with plumes of feathers, with garlands of flowers, with the garments of an eagle knight and with indigenous features, fruits and plants.

Place de la Concorde. We finished the part of the tour that you will take by tram in the Plaza de la Concordia or Zócalo. Here you will have free time to visit all the attractions of San Pedro Cholula, eat and visit the Cholula Pyramid.
