Small Group Fátima, Nazaré and Óbidos Full-day Tour in Lisbon, Portugal

Follow in the footsteps of the Catholic pilgrims on a day tour of Central Portugal from Lisbon! Transfer from the Portuguese capital and drive through various landscapes en route to the towns of Fátima, Nazaré, and Óbidos. Fátima is one of the most revered and respected Catholic symbols worldwide. Each year the city welcomes about 6 million people, among them pilgrims, tourists, and those simply interested. Fatima is located in the heart of Portugal, close to Lisbon (about 100 km). Because of its history and the events it once witnessed, many describe it as a wonderland or city of peace.

We will see many astonishing places, like Capelinha das Aparições, a chapel built on the spot where three local children saw the image of the Virgin Mary. This church is a replica of the original chapel, built in 1919, just a few years after the apparitions. The Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário, which began construction in 1928, was inspired by Neo-Baroque architecture and was built with local stone. It has a central tower at the top, a bronze crown, and a famous sequence of colonnades beautifully decorated with ceramic panels depicting the Way of the Cross. We will relish The Batalha Monastery, a fine example of medieval Portuguese architecture and a monumental structure in the international Gothic style. Its leading portal is decorated with statues of the twelve apostles, biblical kings, prophets, and angels. The centerpiece of the abundance of sculptures is the scene depicting the coronation of the Virgin Mary. 

On our way, we'll enjoy Óbidos — a fairy-tale town that hides behind a ring of walls and is called a museum city. Its tiny white houses are covered with red-tiled roofs in flowering gardens. We will enjoy Nazaré — a typical Portuguese fishing village full of tradition and charm, especially pleasant for those who want to enjoy the best of the most hidden corners of the country. Walking through its narrow streets leading to the ocean reveals a peculiar and authentic way of life, where surprises are hiding around. Its beauty, charm, and tradition make Nazaré the most unforgettable of Portuguese places.
