La Perle is Dubai's resident stage show, performed in a purpose-built theatre at Al Habtoor City by a company drawn from acrobats, divers, aerialists and stunt performers. The stage is the point: it floods with water in a matter of moments and drains just as fast, so a scene can move from dry ground to a deep pool between one sequence and the next. Performers dive into it from height, motorcycles run across it, and the aerial rigging carries the action up into the roof space above the audience. Seating wraps around the stage on three sides, so wherever you sit you are close to it - there is no bad angle and no back of the room. The show runs around 90 minutes, tells its story through movement and effects rather than dialogue, and needs no Arabic or English to follow. It suits families, couples and anyone looking for an evening out that is not another buffet or another mall. Arrive early enough to be seated before the doors close, as latecomers are held until a break in the action.

The stage floods with around 2.7 million litres of water and drains again within seconds, so the set shifts from dry to wet in front of you. Aerialists, divers and motorcyclists perform above and into the water, with performers dropping from the roof of the theatre. The show runs about ninety minutes with no interval.

Wheelchair spaces are available in the Silver, Gold, Platinum and VIP sections, but not in Bronze. If you need a wheelchair space, book one of those tiers and tell us at the time of booking, as the theatre assigns the seat on the day.The theatre is at Al Habtoor City on Sheikh Zayed Road. Arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance: doors close on time and latecomers are held outside until a break in the action, which can mean missing a substantial part of the show. Seat category is set at booking, and the auditorium wraps the stage on three sides, so every seat is close to it. The front rows are within range of the water effects - if you would rather stay dry, avoid the lowest tier. The show runs around 90 minutes and is told through movement, acrobatics and effects rather than dialogue, so no particular language is needed. Smart casual dress. Photography and video are not permitted during the performance. The venue is indoors and air-conditioned; bring a light layer, as it is kept cool.
