Join us for a snowshoeing adventure in the Valtavaara fell area, guided by a local expert. This winter journey will connect you with the magic of Arctic nature as we explore some of our favorite spots in the snowy wilderness. Let’s wander through the forest and see what surprises nature has in store for us!

Before we set off, we’ll check the weather, taste some snow, and decide on the best location for your adventure. At the starting point, you’ll get a brief introduction to snowshoeing—no prior experience required. All you need is warm winter clothing and an adventurous spirit!

What to Expect:

• Walk through peaceful snowy forests, cross a frozen lake, and explore the wilderness.
• Depending on conditions, we may follow the Big Bear’s Trail or head into a nearby nature reserve.
• Reach the top of the fell for panoramic views of the northern horizon.
• Enjoy a break with traditional wild berry juice, surrounded by the beauty of winter.
• Hear stories from your local guide about Arctic nature, wildlife, and life in the north.

• Duration: 3-4 hours + 15-minute transfers from Ruka each way.
• Distance: 2–6 km, with the route and length tailored to your preferences and current conditions.
• Difficulty: Moderate; suitable for anyone able to walk the same distance.
