Andean Weaving and Natural Dyeing Workshop in the Sacred Valley

Live a once-in-a-lifetime cultural immersion with UNESCO-awarded master weavers in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This full-day private experience goes far beyond observation — it’s an invitation to create, connect, and rediscover ancient Andean traditions through color, texture, and ancestral wisdom.

Experience Overview. Join our artisans and discover the millennia-old art of natural dyeing and backstrap weaving in the Sacred Valley. Unlike standard demonstrations, this is a hands-on workshop where you’ll personally collect dye plants, prepare organic pigments, spin and color your own wool, and weave your first textile masterpiece — guided by the same master weavers honored by UNESCO for safeguarding Peru’s living heritage.

Your day begins with a warm community welcome, where local Pututeros and Varayoc greet you with the haunting sound of the pututu (conch shell) and traditional Andean rituals. Your expert cultural guide will introduce you to our social impact project, the story of our weaving lineage, and the evolution of Peruvian textiles from Inca times to the present.

What You’ll Do

Collect native dye plants such as cochinilla, molle, and ch’illka during a short guided walk.

Learn the alchemy of colors as you prepare organic dyes and watch wool transform into radiant reds, yellows, and blues.

Weave your own textile piece on a traditional backstrap loom (waist loom) under the patient guidance of your artisan teacher.

Share a family-style Andean lunch with the artisans — a heart-warming exchange of stories, flavors, and laughter.

Take home your creations, beautifully wrapped with a personalized participation certificate signed by our UNESCO-recognized weavers.
