Discover Fmagusta old town, Golden beach and Ghost town! During the Middle Ages, especially under the maritime republics of Genoa and Venice, Famagusta was the island's most important port city and a gateway to trade with the ports of the Levant, from where the Silk Road merchants carried their goods to Western Europe. The old walls of the city and parts of the modern city are under the de facto control of Northern Cyprus, claimed by Cyprus. Famagusta is the capital of the Gazimağusa District of Northern Cyprus. You will have free time for swimming at the Golden Beach of Famagusta. Then before heading back we will have short drive close to the “Ghost Town”, the fenced sealed-off area of Famagusta.
