Departure: daily.
The Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple frame Mt. Agung volcano, creating a scene that’s an Instagram must. Get there early, with a private driver/guide to help with photography, on this door-to-door east Bali tour. Next, follow in the footsteps of regional royalty at Tirta Gangga Water, Besakit temple or the biggest temple in Bali, enjoy the hidden gem waterfall in Ubud and learn how to make coffee luwak, which is the most expensive coffee in the world.
Tirta Gangga literally means water from the Ganges, and it is a site of some reverence for the Hindu Balinese. Strictly, the name refers to the water palace built in 1948 by the Raja of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. It is, however, the name widely used to refer to the general area which includes the water palace and the lush rural areas around. Tirta Gangga water palace is a maze of pools and fountains surrounded by a lush garden and stone carvings and statues. The one hectare complex was built in 1946 by the late King of Karangsem, but was destroyed almost entirely by the eruption of nearby Mount Agung in 1963. It has been lovingly re-built and restored and has an air of authentic royal magnificence.
Tukad Cepung Waterfall is one of the unique and photogenic waterfalls in Bali. It’s famous for rays of sunlight that shine straight through the top of the falls, creating natural beams across the canyon-like rock formations.
Then visiting coffee Luwak plantation in Ubud. The beautiful Tegalalang Rice Terrace, located north of Ubud, is actuallyan ancient irrigation system, dating back to the eighth century. Its series of sloping rice paddies just begs to be photographed, and indeed, the terrace is one of the most popular attractions among camera-toting tourists in this region of Bali.
