The São Paulo Virada Cultural — a 24-hour continuous free arts festival across the city's cultural centres — is the country's most democratic entertainment event. The forró, pagode, baião, and axé music traditions each have their own live performance circuits and regional heartlands. The Lollapalooza Brasil, the Rock in Rio festival, and the São Paulo Fashion Week add international entertainment infrastructure to a country whose home-grown performing arts culture is already inexhaustible.
