Practical. Rain shows up in any month here, with July days around 23C and January around 3C, so a light waterproof layer earns its place over a heavy coat on either route. The fortress town's terrain drops sharply from the upper squares down to the Grund district by the river, which does more to tire out a walker than the modest distances suggest. Both walks run on the traveller's schedule rather than the weather's, and either fits easily into a single stop on a longer drive between Brussels and the south.
