Our first stop is Demeter ‘s temple, a spectacular recently restored ancient temple of 530 BC. Apart from the impressive monument ,you ll have the chance to visit the archeological museum located in the same area ,giving you the chance to see findings from the site.
We continue our tour and have our next stop at Damalas, a cute little village in the heart of Tragea valley ,where we will enjoy a demonstration at the only remaining traditional pottery workshop and the traditional restored olive press. Then we drive to Chalki, the neoclassical village where you can walk in picturesque alleys ,visit the traditional citron distillery/museum and have an espresso enjoying the classy
atmosphere. Our next stop is the most famous village of Naxos, Apiranthos, the “marble village” where you can stroll on the marble cobbled streets and take loads of photos. We drive towards the North part of Naxos island and we end up on the Northest edge of Naxos,at Apollonas village ,a small typical Cycladic village ,ideal for swimming or just relaxing at the various cafes by the sea. On our way back we stop at the impressive Kouros statue ,a colossal unfinished statue of the 6th century BC and then we head back to Chora, following the North-Northwest coast of the island, enjoying view of Agia tower and North Cyclades islands.
Ablauf
Demeter's Temple. This magnificent temple has been made exclusively of the finest quality Naxos marble and dates back to the 6th century BC.
Damalas Village. The small village of Damalas, spread in amphitheatric fashion at the foot of Lagos hill in the valley of Tragea, is visible from many other locations on the island and offers fantastic views.
Chalki Village. The village of Halki in Naxos (or Chalki) is located in the central area of the region of Tragea, the largest olive cultivation area of the Cyclades, 16 km from Naxos Town.Halki has a long history and was once the capital of Naxos, as well as its main administrative and trade center.
Apollonas Village. Apollonas in Naxos is a lovely fishing village. It is named after Apollo, the Olympian god of light and music, and is inhabited since ancient times.
Kouros Statue. The remarkable statue of a Kouros is located outside the village of Melanes, in the countryside of Naxos.
