21 Erlebnisse

Active programmes in Iceland almost all involve water or ice. The central one is the Silfra fissure at Thingvellir, filled with glacial meltwater: visibility there is measured in tens of metres, the temperature holds near four degrees year-round, and you float in a dry suit. A freedive day costs 209 dollars over four hours; the version followed by the Fontana geothermal baths runs seven hours at 378.

Glaciers are open without climbing experience: a walk onto Falljökull in crampons and on a rope takes two and a half hours at 92 dollars — the cheapest way onto Icelandic ice. Snorkelling in hot springs costs 147 dollars for three hours, a zipline 125 for ninety minutes, and a zodiac run along the coast 109 for an hour and a quarter.

Winter adds dogs: a husky kennel visit costs 89 dollars for an hour, a cart ride 161, a sled team on snow 265 for two hours. Standing apart are the volcanic expedition to the Lakagígar craters (eight hours, 280 dollars) and an evening combining northern lights with the GeoSea sea baths (six hours, 210). GetExperience lists 21 active programmes in Iceland, from 30 to 420 dollars.
