Saronic Islands Cruise to Agistri, Moni, and Aegina

A Saronic islands cruise aboard a traditional wooden sailing boat takes you across the shimmering waters of the Saronic Gulf to three Greek islands in a single day. The cruise departs from Marina Zeas near Athens and heads first to Agistri island, where pine forests drop right to the waterline and an optional bike tour connects quiet villages to hidden beaches. From there, the boat sails to uninhabited Moni island, where a traditional Greek lunch with wine, beer, and coffee is served on deck while deer, wild goats, and peacocks roam the shores around you. After lunch, you jump off the boat to snorkel or swim in crystal clear water before the cruise continues to Aegina island, famous for its white stone houses, pistachio groves, the Temple of Apollo, and the ancient Temple of Aphaia. The full day island tour returns to Marina Zeas around sunset with Mediterranean fruits, drinks, and chill music on board.

More Facts About This Experience

Aegina island served as the first capital of the modern Greek state in 1828, and its Archaeological Museum, founded in 1829, was the first in all of Greece. The Temple of Aphaia on Aegina, built around 500 BC, forms a perfect geometric triangle with the Parthenon in Athens and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. Nikos Kazantzakis, author of Zorba the Greek, lived on Aegina during the German occupation and wrote major works from his neoclassical house near the lighthouse. The nearby island of Hydra, also in the Saronic Gulf, served as a filming location for Boy on a Dolphin (1957), the first Hollywood movie shot in Greece, starring Sophia Loren.

Complement Your Saronic Islands Cruise

After a full day on the Greek islands, the Athens area offers more to explore. An excursion to Cape Sounion delivers sunset views from the ancient Temple of Poseidon perched on cliffs above the Aegean. For evening adventure, an e-bike night ride through Athens reveals illuminated monuments and lively neighborhoods at a fun pace. Get your guide recommendations for Athens include a tandem skydive near the coast for thrill seekers who want to see the Greek landscape from above.
