Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Full-Day Tour

Your adventure begins around 4:30 a.m. with pickup from your hotel, Airbnb, apartment, or hostel in Cusco. Travel into the southern Andes as the city gives way to quiet villages, farmland, valleys, and spectacular mountain scenery.

After about two hours, stop at a local restaurant for a warm breakfast, coffee or coca tea, and time to prepare for the hike.

Continue by vehicle to the trailhead, where your guide will explain the route, share important altitude and safety tips, and make sure everyone is ready before starting.

The hike to Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. We keep a comfortable pace, with time to rest and enjoy the scenery along the way. Expect wide Andean landscapes, llamas, alpacas, local communities, and impressive views of the Ausangate region.

At the Rainbow Mountain viewpoint, take time to enjoy the famous colorful slopes, capture photos, and learn how the mountain’s unique mineral layers created this extraordinary landscape.

From Rainbow Mountain, continue to the Red Valley, one of the most beautiful parts of the experience. Its deep red hills and wide-open scenery offer a striking contrast to Vinicunca and usually a much quieter atmosphere.

After exploring the Red Valley, hike back toward the trailhead, usually taking around 1 hour. Your vehicle will then take you back to the restaurant for lunch.

After lunch, relax on the drive back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:30 p.m.
