Itinerary
The Frida Kahlo Museum is located at Calle de Londres 247, in one of the oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods in Mexico City, the center of Coyoacán. The Blue House is the Intimate Universe of Frida Kahlo. In this beautiful residence, the artist lived most of her life; initially with his family and years later, with Diego Rivera. Likewise, interesting Mexican and foreign visitors stayed in this place, attracted by the captivating couple of artists. Frida wanted to leave her home as a museum, to learn and enjoy her beloved Mexico. For this reason, after his death, Diego organizes the Frida Kahlo Museum here. The museography was in charge of the museographer, teacher and great Tabasco poet Carlos Pellicer, a very close friend of the couple. The administration of the Museum was entrusted to the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo Museum Trust, attached to the Bank of Mexico and established by Rivera himself in 1957.
The Diego Rivera Anahuacalli Museum or simply the Anahuacalli Museum is a museum located in Coyoacán, in the south of Mexico City. The Diego Rivera-Anahuacalli Museum is an exceptional place for its architecture, design and construction. It is built with the same volcanic stone on which it is built. It was designed by Diego Rivera with the purpose of housing his collection of more than forty-one thousand pieces of pre-Hispanic art. It was also planned as a City of the Arts, a space that integrated painting, dance, music, theater, crafts and ecology. For this, the central square was designed as an open-air theater, which gives access to an art gallery, a gallery and the Museum itself. The building reveals the influence of the Teotihuacan and Mayan cultures, in combination with construction elements from the 1940s. It is surrounded by a large Ecological Area, measuring more than forty-two square meters, which protects the flora and fauna of the Pedregal area.
