Full description
We drive west through the outskirts of Chania to the port of Kastelli. From Kissamos port a boat will take you to the small island Gramvoussa with its imposing Venetian castle and breathtaking views. After 2 hours of stay, the boat will take you to the lagoon of Balos. The fabulous clear water of the lagoon and the white coral sand makes an irresistible paradise for all guests. Balos is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Crete, Greece. During the summer, Balos is visited by thousands of people, who arrive by the ferries running from Kissamos port.
Itinerary
Port of Kastelli. Kasteli in Chania is a small town in Chania, Crete, in the northwestern tip of the island. Kissamos, which is referred as “Kasteli” by many people, is located 43 km from Chania and, by first sight, it may seem to you that it doesn’t have many exciting things to do, although, the reality is totally different.
Gramvousa. Gramvousa is the name of the long peninsula on the northwest edge of Crete. It is also the name of the small island near the peninsula.Gramvousa Island is also called “Iremi Gramvousa” or “Tame Gramvousa”, in contrast with another nearby island that is called “Agria Gramvousa”, or “Wild Gramvousa”, because of its rugged terrain and steep rocky coastline. Both the peninsula and the island of Gramvousa are remote places. They feel like they are not part of a big, popular island like Crete, but part of a small, secluded island.
Balos Lake. Balos has many times been described as one of the best beaches in the world, and it is easy to see why. With its turquoise shallow waters and white sands, it draws thousands of visitors from around the world each year.
