On this private tour you will visit the beautiful and colourful city of Aveiro and the ancient monastery of Mosteiro de Jesus. Aveiro is often referred to as the "Venice of Portugal" due to the intricate network of canals and colourful moliceiro boats that characterise the city. Then head to the city of Coimbra, where you can admire the well-preserved architecture of its famous university or wander its picturesque streets.

All this in the comfort of a private car with an English-speaking local driver who knows the area and will be happy to share information with you. You choose your own pick-up date and time for a hassle-free door-to-door transfer. Our driver is friendly and available at all times. Itinerary

The Mosteiro de Jesus is the biggest attraction in Aveiro. It’s a monastery with a royal connection and replete with religious art in its museum. But the Atlantic is also on your doorstep and you’re minutes from sandy beaches. This convent was built between the 15th. and 17th. centuries. Also fantastic is the nave and apse of the church, with amazing floor tiles and every surface covered with wood carving. The stop is for 2 hours. The rest of the time is for transportation.

The University of Coimbra is the oldest university in Portugal. It’s a World Heritage Site, high on a hill in the middle of the city. It’s considered an important tourist attraction and has hundreds of years of history to show off. You could scale the 180 steps on the tower at the highest point of the university for an awesome perspective of the city. On the inside, visit the Sala dos Capelos, the 17th. century ceremonial hall and the Paço das Escolas courtyard. The stop is for 2 hours. The rest of the time is for transportation.
