On this tour you will visit the fabulous luxury palace of Herrenchiemsee, nicknamed the Versailles of Bavaria. Built on an island in Bavaria's largest lake, it is one of the most visited sights in the region. Your driver will then take you to Salzburg, where you will see the monumental fortress of Hohensalzburg and experience the magical atmosphere of the historic city centre.

Itinerary

The origin of Herrenchiemsee New Palace goes back to 1873, when King Ludwig II of Bavaria acquired the Herreninsel as the location for his Royal Palace of Herrenchiemsee. It’s modeled on Versailles and it was built under the idea of creating a "Temple of Fame" for King Louis XIV of France, admired by the Bavarian monarch. The actual building of the "Bavarian Versailles". The highlights of the state rooms are the State Staircase, the State Bedroom and the Great Hall of Mirrors. Also the gardens resemble Versailles. The stop is for 3 hours. The rest of the time is for transportation.

Also known as Hohensalzburg Castle, this imposing Fortress is in a dominating position on top of the Festungsberg Hill. The castle has undergone many transformations, additions and expansions. From there, you will be able to see the whole city of Salzburg. The stop is for 3 hours. The rest of the time is for transportation.
