Full description

Split is situated on a peninsula and surrounded by historical towns and settlements. We shall take a walk through the 4th-century Diocletian's Palace and its ancient Cellars, the Peristyle, Roman temples (today Christian ones) – the Cathedral and the Baptistery, and then the famous Golden Gate. After a sightseeing tour of the town of Split and some free time for individual exploring, we start our bus ride towards Trogir.

Trogir is a small town under the cultural protection of UNESCO, which arose from the ancient Tragurion and is full of buildings and monuments testifying to its rich history. There stands the Cathedral with its famous portal made by the well-known local master Radovan, the City Loggia from the 15th century, the Ćipiko palace, the Town Hall, and the Benedictine monastery from the year 1064, where a Greek relief is kept representing Kairos (the God of auspicious moment). After sightseeing, free time for lunch.

Itinerary

SPLIT. Pick-up from the selected hotels within the Split city area. A walking tour of Split, boasting a 17-century long history, will cover the city's most important historic sights. The historic core of Split, its stunning Diocletian’s Palace, was originally built as the Roman Emperor’s retirement venue at the turn of the 4th century AD. But, when the Slavs ransacked Roman Salona in the 7th century, the entire town fled to the palace, setting foundation for the wondrous city Split is today. Flourishing, creative, and with a distinct Dalmatian spirit, the heart of Split enthralls with sites like its Peristyle, the Golden and Silver Gates, the Cathedral and Jupiter’s Temple.

TROGIR. Hop on the transfer for the drive along the coast to the walled town of Trogir. Trogir arose from the ancient Tragurion and is full of buildings and monuments testifying to its rich history. There stands the Cathedral with its famous portal made by the well-known local master Radovan, the City Loggia from the 15th century, the Ćipiko Palace, the Town Hall and the Benedictine monastery from the year 1064 where a Greek relief representing Kairos (the God of the auspicious moment) is kept.

SPLIT. Drive back to Split. Drop-off at the hotel.
