Explore Riisitunturi National Park with your own private local guide on a shorter and flexible winter experience.

This tour is a good choice if you want to see Riisitunturi's snow-covered forests and open fell landscapes without spending a full day outdoors or walking a long distance. It is also suitable for first-time snowshoers and guests who are unsure how they will feel walking or spending several hours outside in winter conditions.

We usually explore approximately 4 km, with time to stop, enjoy the landscape, take photographs and have a hot drink along the way.

There is no fixed route. At the beginning of the experience, your guide will ask about your wishes and consider the weather, temperature, snow conditions and your group's comfort level before choosing the route.

Depending on the conditions, we may use snowshoes, winter boots or ice grips. Snowshoes are not always necessary – when the winter trail is firm, walking can sometimes be the more comfortable option.

The departure time is flexible. You can choose a time that suits your holiday or plan the experience around winter daylight, sunrise, sunset or blue hour.

No previous snowshoeing experience is required. Recommended minimum age 6 years.

Deep fresh snow can make walking more demanding, while a firm winter trail may be relatively easy to follow. For this reason, we do not follow exactly the same route every day. Your guide will choose the equipment, route and pace according to the conditions and your wishes. If you have any concerns about walking, snowshoeing or spending time outdoors in cold weather, please let us know when booking. We are happy to take this into account when planning your experience. You need your own outdoor clothing and boots suitable for the current weather. If you need Winter Clothing Rental , we can bring the clothes to Riisitunturi. Also check winter clothing tips: We may stay still for a while on breaks or admire the view, so it's wise to take some extra clothes with you. Maybe something to drink and snacks for your own use if you feel you need them. Backpack. Please let us know if you need to borrow one from us. Remember to take your camera with a full battery!

Cancellation policy

10% charge if cancelled within 336 hours of start. 50% charge if cancelled within 168 hours of start. 100% charge if cancelled within 72 hours of start.
