Travel from Cluj to Rosia Montana, exploring its 2,000-year-old mining history and the Mining Museum. Learn about Romania’s largest civil protests, which saved the area from destruction, leading to its UNESCO heritage status in 2021. Hike the golden mountain and admire the village’s historic charm.

This moderate to high level tour includes well-paced hiking with regular breaks, for up to 3 hours (8 km / 5 mi). Guests need to be able to climb several flights of stairs without handrails and navigate more or less difficult terrain (scree, loose, steep and rocky terrain). The itinerary will be in partial or full sun, including significant changes in temperature and altitude.According to Romanian law, all children under the age of 12 or shorter than 135 cm (53 inches) must use a car seat/booster. We do not provide seats / boosters. We can only accept children who do not correspond to these criteria if you bring your own seat / booster.The tour is not available in bad weather conditions For the mine: warm clothes, as the temperature inside is of around 7 ° C / 44° F. For the hike: appropriate outdoor clothing & equipment we recommend (season wise): 25l-35l trail backpack, good hiking boots, hiking pants, midlayers, waterproof jacket & pants, hat/cap, sunglasses, gloves, hiking poles, water bottle / hydration packs (min. 1 l)
