Full description
The Musandam peninsula is where the Hajar mountains meet the sea and drop straight into it, carving the inlets that give this coast its nickname - the Norway of Arabia. This day trip reaches it from Dubai via Dibba, on the Fujairah-Oman border, with sharing transfers from fixed points in Deira and Bur Dubai and a drive of around two and a half hours each way. At the harbour you board a traditional wooden dhow laid with cushions and shaded decks for a five-to-six-hour cruise into the fjords, past cliffs that rise sheer out of deep, exceptionally clear water. Dolphins are commonly seen alongside the boat. The dhow anchors in a sheltered bay for swimming and snorkelling with kits and life jackets provided, and a buffet lunch is served on deck with soft drinks, mineral water, tea, coffee and fresh fruit. Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and a hat; there is shade on board but the sun on the water is strong.
Itinerary
Drive to Dibba and boarding the dhow. An early transfer runs up the east coast to Dibba, on the border between Fujairah and Oman, taking about two and a half hours from Dubai. At the harbour the group boards a traditional wooden dhow laid out with cushions and shaded decks.
Cruise through the Musandam fjords. The dhow sails into the fjords of the Musandam peninsula, where the Hajar mountains drop straight into deep water - the reason the coast is often called the Norway of Arabia. Dolphins are regularly seen alongside the boat on the way out.
Swimming, snorkelling and lunch on board. The boat anchors in a sheltered bay for swimming and snorkelling, with masks and fins provided and banana-boat rides available. A buffet lunch with soft drinks, tea and fruit is served on deck before the return sail and the drive back to Dubai.

This tour crosses into Oman, so a valid original passport is compulsory - not a copy, and not an Emirates ID. Holders of a single-entry UAE visa cannot cross the border; a multiple-entry visa or your own national passport is required, and some nationalities need an Oman visa arranged in advance. Send us your passport details well before your travel date so the border formalities can be arranged, and check your own entry requirements before booking. Transfers are shared and depart from two fixed points, not from your hotel: City Centre Deira metro station in Deira, and Sharaf DG metro station in Bur Dubai - Sharaf DG is the Green Line station that was called Al Fahidi until 2020, so look for Sharaf DG on the metro map. Confirm which point and what time you are booked for, and arrive early: the coach cannot wait. The drive is around two and a half hours each way, so this is a long day. Pack swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses; snorkelling kits and life jackets are provided. There is shade on the dhow but the sun on the water is strong. If you are prone to seasickness, take something before boarding - the fjords are usually calm, but the open stretches can move. Non-swimmers can stay aboard; life jackets are available to anyone who wants one. Bring a light layer for the drive back. Do not plan a flight for the same evening, as the return time can vary with traffic.
