Unlike standard tours, we offer a rhythmic, multisensory journey into the heart of Chagga culture. You won't just watch; you will become part of the family. Our 'Singing Grind' is our signature—where we process coffee using traditional mortars and pestles while singing and dancing to local chants. Located on the verdant edge of Kilimanjaro National Park, our farm offers a 100% organic, hand-crafted experience that uses wood-fire roasting to create a flavor profile you simply cannot find in modern cafes.

Itinerary

Arrival & Warm Welcome at Chagga Coffee Farm. Guests arrive at the organic coffee farm in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will be welcomed by our expert guides and given a brief overview of the farm’s history and our commitment to organic farming.

Guided Coffee Farm Walk & Harvest Experience. Walk through the lush coffee plantations. Depending on the season, guests can participate in picking the ripe red coffee cherries. Learn how we identify the best beans for high-quality organic coffee.

Traditional Coffee Processing (Local Methods). Experience the traditional method of removing the husks from the beans. We will explain the natural drying process that ensures the coffee retains its unique flavor.

Roasting & Grinding Ceremony with Locals. Experience the traditional roasting process over an open fire. Under the guidance of our "Coffee Priest," you will learn how to manually grind the roasted beans using a large wooden mortar and pestle while enjoying local songs and chants.

Coffee Tasting Experience (Farm-to-Cup Moment). The tour concludes with a fresh cup of the organic coffee you helped prepare. Enjoy the rich, aromatic flavors while overlooking the stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Souvenir, Cultural Arts & Gemstone Gallery Experience. Visit an authentic souvenir gallery to explore handcrafted African arts, traditional wood carvings, custom jewelry, and locally made crafts. You will also have the opportunity to view and purchase genuine Tanzanian gemstones and precious minerals, making it a perfect stop to collect authentic keepsakes and memories from your trip.

You can choose between two transport options depending on your preference and budget: Motorbike (Boda Boda): $10 per person. Ideal for solo travelers who want a quick, scenic ride. Private Car: $25 for a group of up to 4 people. A comfortable and shared option for families or friends. Important: Please specify your preferred transport mode and provide your exact location (Hotel/Airbnb name) immediately after booking. This helps us coordinate your pickup smoothly and on time. Comfortable walking shoes: Since we will be walking through the coffee farm and local trails, sturdy shoes or sneakers are recommended. Sun protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat to protect you while outdoors. Camera or smartphone: To capture the traditional coffee-making process and the beautiful scenery of the Kilimanjaro foothills. Reusable water bottle: To stay hydrated during the tour. Rain jacket or umbrella: The weather near the mountain can change quickly, so it is good to be prepared for a light shower.
