The Meradalir volcano started erupting again on August 3rd, 2022. Welcome to the erupting area! See the lava erupt!

The volcano is situated near Reykjavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula and has been "sleeping" for almost a year. This is the second eruption of the Fagradalsfjall volcano in the last 16 months. No eruption has been recorded on the Reykjanes Peninsula in 800 years, so this is a fantastic and rare event worth seeing!

Our driver (guide) will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the erupting area as close as possible to the volcano. You can watch the eruption for about an hour and then return to Reykjavik (snacks are offered).

Highlights: Meradalir volcano eruption, Reykjanes Peninsula, lava fields.

Departure: Saturday and Sunday.

Includes

: a driver (guide), SUV 4X4, snacks.

Please note:Authorities warn of gas pollution. The government department recommends standing at the lava field with the wind at your back.
