To start the tour, you will be picked up from the hotel you are staying at in Milan. During the tour, you will stop in Alba, a small town packed with restaurants, taverns, bars, and shops selling specific products. Here, you can sample dishes based on truffles and exquisite Barolo wine.
You will be able to visit the ancient Castello di Barolo. This castle has changed many times over its long history, from a stronghold for defense to a country home for a noble family. The biggest thing that stands out about the castle is how big it is – it completely blocks out the town around it. This shows how powerful the lords of the place were. The upper floors of the building are home to the ethnographic-oenological museum of Barolo. This museum has an exhibit of old tools used in the area for making wine and grapes. It also has information about the lives of local winemakers.
You'll find the Regional Enoteca in the same cellars where Marquise Giulia christened the first bottle of Barolo. It has served as the WiMu Wine Museum's home since 2010. One included activity is a tour of the Fontanafredda winery in Serralunga d'Alba.
