On this tour, we will go looking for some true remote authenticity in a small group setting. Only few roads lead to Cinque Terre, making it hard for mass tourism to visit the five fishermen villages perched over the sea. On our way back to Florence, we will stop to Pisa, to see the famous leaning tower.

After you meet your driver/guide in Florence, you will head to Riomaggiore, from where you will take the public boat to Manarola. Public boats operate subject to weather conditions. Your driver (guide) will help you catch a boat or train at Riomaggiore to get to Manarola, where you will have free time on your own. Manarola may be the oldest of the towns in the Cinque Terre, with the cornerstone of the church, San Lorenzo, dating from 1338.

Your next stop will be at Vernazza, where you will arrive by train from Manarola. Vernazza is the only natural port of the five villages. Being the wealthiest village, its architecture is most elaborate. See the Castle of the Doria, look at the watchtowers, and do not miss the Romanesque sanctuary of Our Lady of Reggio. You can walk around the city before catching the train back to Riomaggiore.

Once you are back to Riomaggiore, you will have a last chance to look around you and memorize the smell, colours and sounds that create the incredible atmosphere of Cinque Terre.

Your black Mercedes minivan will be waiting for us to set off for the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the last stop of this day trip. Free time to see the Leaning Tower and walk around Piazza dei Miracoli to see its other celebrated monuments: Pisa Baptistery, Pisa Duomo. During the hour-long visit, you’ll also discover Piazza dei Cavalieri, home to the historic university Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. If you wish to climb the Leaning Tower, remember to book it online.

Finally, you will head back to Florence.
