Samarkand is a legendary city on the Great Silk Road, the capital of Tamerlane's Great Empire.
Visit to Shahi-Zinda necropolis - one of the most mysterious and unique architectural monuments of Samarkand. The oldest constructions of the ensemble, from which only bases and tombstones have been preserved, date back to XIXII centuries. The overwhelming majority of buildings belong to the XIVXV century, and the rebuildings of the XVIXIX centuries practically did not affect the composition and appearance of the complex.
Visit to the Gur-Emir Mausoleum (translated as the grave of the Emir, lord) - the place where Amir Temur, his sons and grandsons are buried. It is a single-domed building with a crypt. The basis of the mausoleum is an octahedral with a ribbed dome on a high drum, which is the pride and decoration of the mausoleum.
Excursion to the heart of the city Registan Square, which is among the most beautiful squares in the world, it is called the pearl of Central Asia. This fame is due to the unique monuments of medieval oriental architecture surrounding it from three sides in the form of a beautiful architectural ensemble: Ulugbek Madrasah (1417-1420), Sher-Dor Madrasah (1619-1636) and Tillya-Kari Madrasah (1646-1647). This ensemble is considered the greatest among the buildings of the Islamic world.
All three madrassahs (in the old days in the East so called religious educational institutions) are turned by their portals to the center of the square and create a harmonious composition. Moreover, each building is characterized by its unique decor with filigree stone carvings decorating the walls and portals.
Excursion to Bibi-Khanum Mosque, the largest mosque in Central Asia, shrouded in many legends. The majestic blue domes are an extraordinary sight. The spirit is captured already from the scope with which this monumental structure was built, striking with its size and beauty. In ancient times, its dome was compared to the vault of heaven and the arch of the portal to the Milky Way.
