On this customized tour you will visit the pagan temple of Garni and the Geghard Monastery complex. The first stop will be at the arch of Yeghishe Charents, then at the temple of the Sun God Mitra Garni, the only pagan temple in Armenia. At the next stop you will be surprised by the splendor of Geghard Monastery Complex of XIII century. The Khor Virap Monastery is located about an hour's drive from the capital, offering an amazing view of Armenia's symbol, the majestic Ararat. Situated on a rock in the middle of a wide plain, Khor Virap, like a vigilant guardian, protects the serene peace of the snow cap of Ararat, which rises a little further away. Khor Virap Monastery is a historical landmark for the whole of Armenia, because it was here in 301 that the ruler of the country converted to Christianity, making it the state religion. Today in Khor Virap you can visit the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, descend into the underground prison where St. Gregory the Illuminator was kept, admire the peak of Ararat melting into a blue haze and participate in the ceremony of releasing white doves.
