Departing from Negombo or Colombo, you will drive for 2 hours to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It is located northwest of Kegalle and was established in 1975 by the Department of Wildlife Conservation. There, orphaned or injured elephants live in their natural habitat and are being looked after. You will have a chance to see members of staff feeding elephant calves and elephants bathing in a river.

Highlights: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, elephants, tea plantation, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kandy, the Temple of the Tooth.

Departure: daily.
