Transfers in Athens

7 experiences Greece

Transfers in Athens solve a triangle: airport — the port of Piraeus — the city. The airport lies some thirty kilometres east of the centre, Piraeus ten to the south-west, and the way between them crosses the whole city. The metro links these points, but with suitcases and a change it becomes a trial, especially if the ferry leaves early in the morning.

Hence the set of routes: airport to hotel, hotel to port, port to airport direct. The last is needed by cruise passengers who have only a few hours between stepping ashore and their flight. The driver meets you with a name board in arrivals or at the quay, helps with luggage and drives without stops.

Practical notes. The driver tracks the flight number: if the plane is late the meeting shifts without surcharge — that is standard, but confirm it when booking. Allow a margin for Piraeus: it is enormous, with more than ten berths, and the right terminal is worth checking in advance. A child seat is ordered ahead. The price counts per car rather than per passenger, so for a family or a group it works out cheaper than a taxi, and it is door to door.
