Le Panier: Walking tour at the Marseille's oldest neighbourhood

Stroll from La Joliette to get acquainted with the revival of the Phocaean city and then access to the alleys of the oldest district in France: Le Panier, 2600 years of history and tastings are on the program!

Starting from La Joliette, we will see and understand how the city decided, in 2013, to modify and reorganize some of its districts and buildings such as Les Docks, Le Silo, the seaside, the CMA CGM and "La Marseillaise" towers, La Villa Méditerranée and the new icon of Marseille, the MUCEM (Museum of the Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean Sea). 

From the meeting point, we walk along the sea before entering the Panier district, the oldest in Marseille and France! We will pass by the cathedral of Marseille built in the 19th century, then your guide will take you through the narrow and picturesque streets entirely covered by works of local artists. 

In this beautiful area we will see, among others, La Vilelle Charité, La Place des Moulins and we will talk about the foundation of Marseille and its 2,600 years of history. 

Once on the Place de Lenche, you will have the chance to get in touch with the local culture thanks to a delicious tasting of shuttles and chocolate... two typical Made in Marseille products. To end this visit, we will walk around the Saint-Laurent church, one of the oldest in the city, and with a breathtaking view of the Old Port and the Mucem, your guide will answer all your questions and give you valuable advice on what you can do during the rest of your stay.
