We begin a day with the overview of the city center: walk in the main square, the Zocalo, from where began the construction of a modern Mexico city, visit the Presidential Palace, where the frescoes of the famous artist Diego Rivera were immortalized , look at the ruins of the ancient city of the Aztecs – Tenochtitlan. Then we leave the city, and along a picturesque mountain road we move to the archaeological site of Teotihuacan, the sacred city of the Aztecs, where according to their legend, people become Gods. We will hear the story of this mysterious place, walk through the Paths of the Dead and conquer the highest pyramid of the complex, the Pyramid of the Sun. After returning to Mexico City, we will go to visit to the National Museum of Anthropology, which is the pride of the country, where the world’s largest exposition of original items of pre-Columbian America is collected and presented in 22 pavilions.
Day 3: Mexico City – Puebla – Veracruz
Breakfast. The guide meet with you at the hotel lobby, and we say goodbye to Mexico city. Our rout lies in the city of Veracruz, but on the way we will visit one of the five most beautiful and significant colonial cities, Puebla. By the way, we will admire the beautiful mountain scenery and will stop in Cholula, for climbing the pyramid, which is known as the most unusual pyramid in the world, because it’s mathematically proven that this is the largest man-made structure ever built by ancient people. The pyramid of Cholula by decision of the authorities has been ever not excavated and reconstructed. Covered with green, it looks more like a mountain on top of which is a Catholic Shrine and a lookout, where we will climb to enjoy breathtaking views and make memorable photos. We continue our journey to the “City of Angels”, because that’s how the locals call the city of Puebla. Already at the entrance of the city, you will surely impress with its architecture. Because UNESCO included this city in the world Heritage list for its unique architecture and historical value. Puebla was the first city built by the Spanish colonizers on the ruins of an Indian settlement. Like many colonial cities, Puebla has many churches and temples, more than 70. Of course, you will visit the most important. Moreover, you walk in the streets with colored houses, look at the shop with Talavera ( the world famous finishing tiles, originally from Puebla, but used in many countries), visit the local market and get the opportunity to enjoy delicious national dish – chicken in chocolate sauce (mole poblano). After enjoying the beauty of a fairytale town, we will continue your journey through the picturesque mountainous terrain in the direction of the Gulf of Mexico in a fun port-city of Veracruz. We will walk in the center, where a historical atmosphere survived very well despite the influence of modernity. You will see the Cathedral, built in neoclassical style; the City Palace in the Tuscan style; the Santiago Bastion, the only Bastion extant and rich vegetation historical Park Zamora.

After the breakfast, we will head to Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco State, where the greatest interest is the Olmec city-museum “La Venta”. There we meet the ancient pyramids built by an unknown Indian tribe. The name “Olmec” was given to him very tentatively, as once a small tribe with the same name lived in these places, the Maya called these people “the inhabitants of the rubber country” because of the abundance of rubber trees in the area. Also the attention of scientists and tourists are attracted by the giant stone heads, which secret construction was not able to solve to this day. After visiting this very interesting mysterious park, we leave the state of Tabasco and go to get acquainted with the state of Chiapas. Accommodation in a hotel in Palenque. Free evening.

In this city, according to archaeologists, the longest bridge span in the ancient world was built, connecting Yaxchilan (the territory of modern Mexico) and the Peten in modern Guatemala. We will see fragments of this grand for its time structure. We also observe the ruins of the buildings with age is more than 2000 years, the Central of which is the Main Palace. Then we move to the 30-meter waterfall “Misol-Ha”, where we will swim and, under favorable weather conditions, visit the grotto. On returning to Palenque, free time.

Still our days in the territory are proceeding the archaeological excavations. It’s interesting that the innumerable hieroglyphs on the Temple walls are not decoded to the end and to this day. After seeing this great city, we leave the mainland of Mexico and head to the Yucatan Peninsula in the state of Campeche, on the way stopping to admire the beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico. As only here we can see rare architectural Puuc style. A 35-meter high pyramid of the Magician with the rounded edges crowns Uxmal, which was not typical Mayan buildings. If our forces and time permit, we will visit a cocoa plantation where you will learn the process of making this drink, which in ancient times was considered an exclusively imperial and had a special ritual of cooking and serving.
