Stop 1 | Abu Simbel Temple. Visit the magnificent Abu Simbel Temples, carved directly into the mountainside during the reign of King Ramses II in the 13th century BC.The Great Temple is famous for its four colossal statues of Ramses II, each standing around 20 meters high. Inside, explore the impressive halls and the sanctuary, where the famous sunlight phenomenon occurs twice a year, on February 22 and October 22, when sunlight reaches deep into the temple and illuminates the statues inside.One of the most remarkable stories about Abu Simbel is that the entire temple complex was relocated in the 1960s with the help of UNESCO to save it from being submerged by the rising waters of Lake Nasser. The temples were carefully dismantled and reconstructed about 65 meters higher, preserving their original orientation and appearance.
Stop 2 | Temple of Nefertari. Continue to the nearby Temple of Nefertari, also known as the Temple of Hathor, which Ramses II dedicated to his beloved wife Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor.The temple's façade features six impressive statues, depicting Ramses II and Nefertari. Inside, admire the beautifully decorated halls and reliefs showing the queen alongside the gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt.
